HI-FARMS Siaya

HI-FARMS Siaya

TATUA CLUB PROGRAM

HI-FARMS Siaya

GAHSO is proud to introduce HI-FARMS Siaya, a transformative initiative advancing inclusive, climate-resilient food security in Siaya County. With funding support from Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), this project is changing lives and building sustainable livelihoods for some of the most vulnerable groups in the region.

Through HI-FARMS Siaya, we are empowering 30 young women, adolescent girls, and persons with disabilities by providing tools, skills, and access to financial and market resources needed to thrive in agribusiness and food production.

Key components of the project include: Community Demonstration Farms

Creation of local demo farms showcasing drought-resilient crops and regenerative agriculture practices, helping farmers adopt climate-smart techniques for long-term sustainability.

Agribusiness Training & Start-Up Kits
Tailored training in agribusiness development along with starter kits for women-led enterprises, enabling participants to launch productive, independent ventures.

Household Kitchen Gardening
Promotion of small-scale kitchen gardens to boost nutritional diversity, improve food security, and encourage self-reliance in food production.

Digital Market Access
Deployment of a digital platform to connect farmers with buyers, providing access to broader markets and increasing household income through sale of surplus produce.

Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs)
Formation and strengthening of VSLAs among participants to promote financial literacysavings culture, and access to small loans—enabling investment in agricultural inputs, emergencies, and business expansion.

Strategic Partnerships
Ongoing collaboration with local governments and development partners to build inclusive, resilient, and community-driven food systems that can be sustained beyond the project timeline.

HI-FARMS Siaya is a model of inclusive development—where women, girls, and persons with disabilities are at the center of building climate-resilient livelihoods and economically empowered communities.

Together with SHOFCO, GAHSO is sowing the seeds of hope, equity, and sustainability in Siaya County.
