DIMC PROGRAM

DIMC PROGRAM

The Digital Inclusion for Marginalized Communities (DIMC) Initiative is a partnership between GAHSO and Basic Internet, aimed at bridging the digital divide for adolescent girls and young women along the shores of Lake Victoria. This initiative focuses on providing affordable and accessible internet connectivity, enhancing digital literacy, and fostering education and entrepreneurship to empower marginalized communities.

By integrating low-cost internet solutions with capacity-building programs, the initiative ensures that young women can access online learning platforms, financial services, healthcare information, and employment opportunities, fostering economic independence and social inclusion. Through digital empowerment, the initiative contributes to building sustainable livelihoods and creating a more equitable society.

Target Number:
The DIMC Initiative aims to reach 10,000 adolescent girls and young women in its first phase, equipping them with essential digital skills and online resources to improve their socio-economic opportunities.

Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
The DIMC Initiative supports:

SDG 4: Quality Education – By enhancing digital literacy and access to online learning.
SDG 5: Gender Equality – By empowering adolescent girls and young women with digital and entrepreneurial skills.
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – By expanding digital infrastructure and promoting inclusive innovation.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – By ensuring digital access for marginalized and underserved communities.
